End User Licence Agreement

Effective 29 September 2026. Please read this agreement before installing or using SUMn.

1. Agreement

This End User Licence Agreement is between SUMn Pty Ltd (ACN 702 770 474, ABN 25 702 770 474) (we, us) and the business or organisation that holds the SUMn licence (you). By installing or using SUMn you agree to it on that organisation's behalf. If you do not agree, do not install or use SUMn. Our Terms of Service also apply.

2. The licence we give you

While your subscription is active and you comply with this agreement, we give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use SUMn, including updates we provide, on any number of Windows computers at the one site your licence is for, for your internal business purposes.

A site is one physical location, such as a single office, branch or shopfront. The site name you give when you buy SUMn is registered to your licence key.

3. Features enabled per licence

Some features are available only when we have enabled them for your licence, including:

  • connecting SUMn computers that are not on the same local network, for example over a VPN or other network link between locations; and

  • using a USB panic button with SUMn.

If you need one of these features, email support@sumn.com.au. Enabling a feature does not extend your licence to another site.

4. What you must not do

You must not, and must not let anyone else:

  • use one licence at more than one site, or connect computers at different locations to share one licence, whether by VPN, remote desktop, network bridging or any other means;

  • share your licence key with anyone outside your organisation, or use a key issued to someone else;

  • remove, bypass or interfere with the licence checks, the site restriction or the per-licence feature settings, or alter licence files;

  • copy, modify, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer SUMn, except to the extent the law expressly allows despite this restriction;

  • rent, lend, sell, sublicense or otherwise give SUMn to another person, or offer it as a service to others;

  • remove any copyright or other notices; or

  • use SUMn in a way that breaks the law.

5. Licence checks and data

SUMn contacts our licence server when it is activated and about once a week after that to confirm the licence. Each check sends the licence key, the registered site name, the station name and a random identifier for the installation, and our server records the internet address it came from. A check-in stays valid for 30 days, so SUMn keeps working through short internet outages.

Alerts, responses and assistance requests travel only between the SUMn computers on your network. They are not sent to us. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle information.

6. Updates

SUMn checks for updates when it starts and offers to install them. Updates may add, change or remove features. This agreement applies to every update.

7. Ownership

SUMn is licensed, not sold. We, or our licensors, own all intellectual property in SUMn, its documentation and the SUMn name and logo. SUMn includes components from third parties, such as Microsoft .NET and the Ultimarc USB button driver, which are used under their own licences.

8. Not an emergency service

SUMn is a staff communication tool that helps colleagues get help to each other quickly. It is not a monitored alarm service and does not contact police, ambulance, fire or security. In an emergency, call 000.

SUMn depends on your computers, network and people. It can fail to raise, deliver or display an alert, for example if a computer is off, asleep, disconnected or blocked by a firewall. You are responsible for testing it, for training staff, and for keeping other ways of calling for help.

9. Warranties and liability

SUMn comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Apart from those, and to the extent the law allows, SUMn is provided as is. The limits on our liability in our Terms of Service apply to this agreement.

10. Ending this licence

This licence ends when your subscription ends, or straight away if you breach this agreement and we tell you so. When it ends you must stop using SUMn and uninstall it. We may revoke a licence key that is being used in breach of this agreement, after which SUMn will stop working on the computers that use it.

11. General

This agreement is governed by the law of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction. If part of it is unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may update this agreement; the version on this page applies from the date shown at the top.
