Terms of Service
Effective 29 September 2026. These terms apply when you buy or use a SUMn subscription or use sumn.com.au.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service are an agreement between SUMn Pty Ltd (ACN 702 770 474, ABN 25 702 770 474) (we, us) and the business or organisation that buys a SUMn subscription (you). The person who places the order confirms they are authorised to accept these terms for that business or organisation.
Your use of the SUMn software is also governed by our End User Licence Agreement. Our Refund Policy and Privacy Policy form part of these terms. If anything in these documents conflicts, these Terms of Service apply.
2. What SUMn is, and what it is not
SUMn is Windows software that lets a person at one computer raise an alert that sounds and shows on the other SUMn computers on the same network, so colleagues can come and help.
SUMn is a staff communication tool that helps colleagues get help to each other quickly. It is not a monitored alarm service and does not contact police, ambulance, fire or security. In an emergency, call 000.
SUMn relies on things we do not control: your computers being switched on, logged in and running SUMn, your local network and its settings, Windows, and people noticing and responding to the alert. It does not replace your own safety procedures, duress or alarm systems, or your obligations under work health and safety law. You are responsible for deciding whether SUMn suits your workplace, for testing it regularly, and for training your staff.
3. Subscriptions and sites
A subscription covers one site: one physical location, such as a single office, branch or shopfront. You may install SUMn on as many Windows computers at that site as you need.
Each additional site needs its own subscription.
Some features, such as connecting computers at different locations over a network link (for example a VPN) or using a USB panic button, are available only where we have enabled them for your licence. Contact us if you need them.
Your licence key is for your site only. Do not share it with, or use it at, another location.
4. Prices, payment and renewal
Annual: $500 plus GST ($550 including GST) per site, billed once a year in advance.
Monthly: $50 plus GST ($55 including GST) per site, billed monthly in advance.
Prices are in Australian dollars. A tax invoice is emailed with every payment.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period and the card you used is charged unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Payments are processed by our online store and payment providers. We never see or store your full card details.
We may change our prices. A change applies from your next renewal, and we will email you at least 30 days before it does.
5. Delivery
After payment we email your licence key, a download link and the setup guide to the email address on the order. Most orders are processed within minutes, and always within one business day (Perth time). If nothing has arrived, check your junk folder and then email support@sumn.com.au.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your customer account at sumn.com.au/account or by emailing support@sumn.com.au before your next billing date.
When you cancel, your subscription does not renew. SUMn keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy, which includes a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first annual subscription.
7. If a payment fails or a subscription ends
If a renewal payment fails or your subscription ends, SUMn shows a warning on your computers. There is a grace period of 30 days to renew. After that, SUMn stops raising and receiving alerts until the subscription is renewed. We may suspend or revoke a licence that is used in breach of these terms or the licence agreement.
8. Updates and support
Software updates are included for as long as your subscription is active. SUMn checks for them when it starts and offers to install them.
Support is by email at support@sumn.com.au. We aim to reply within one business day (Perth time).
We may change or retire features, but we will not remove the core alerting function during a period you have paid for.
9. Your responsibilities
Install and set up SUMn as described in the setup guide, including allowing it through Windows Firewall.
Test SUMn when you first install it, after changes to your computers or network, and regularly after that.
Keep your computers, Windows and network in working order, and keep your contact email up to date.
Tell your staff what SUMn does and does not do, and keep other ways of calling for help.
Only use SUMn lawfully, and do not put personal or health information into station names or alert messages.
10. Consumer law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under that law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
SUMn is provided for use in a business, and where the Australian Consumer Law allows us to limit our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again;
we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or opportunity;
we are not liable for any loss arising because an alert was not raised, sent, received, seen or acted on, including because of a network, power, computer or Windows fault, a setting, or a person's response; and
our total liability to you in connection with SUMn is limited to the fees you paid us for the affected site in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
12. The website
You may use sumn.com.au to learn about SUMn and to buy it. Please do not interfere with the site or try to access parts of it you are not meant to. The site's content, the SUMn name and logo belong to us.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on this page applies from the date shown at the top. If a change materially affects your subscription we will email you at least 30 days before it applies, and you may cancel before then.
14. General
These terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction.
If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
